Can you ride a scooter on the road UK?
Yes. To use an e-scooter from an official trial, you need to have category Q entitlement on your driving licence. Full/provisional UK driving licences with categories AM, A or B include category Q permissions. If you have a provisional licence, you don’t need L-plates when using an e-scooter.
Are kick-scooters allowed on pavements UK?
You can, because there is no law saying you can’t. Kick-scooters can be ridden on the pavement, footpath or a segregated cycle lane. Although Kick-scooters should be ridden on the pavement or footpath, they do not have right of way of either of these surfaces.
What scooter can I drive without a license UK?
You can ride a moped (up to 50cc) without L plates. You do not need to take a CBT course or take the full moped test. You must take CBT if you want to ride anything larger than a 50cc moped.
