What age is junior maths challenge?
The Junior Mathematical Challenge (JMC) is an introductory challenge for pupils in Years 8 or below (aged 13) or below, taking place in spring each year. This takes the form of twenty-five multiple choice questions to be sat in exam conditions, to be completed within one hour.
How do you prepare for the Junior Maths Challenge?
One great way for students to prepare for Challenge is to look at questions and papers from previous Junior Maths Challenges. This is one way for teachers to help their students to think in a more mathematical fashion, getting them in the right frame of mind to solve the Challenge’s questions.
How many marks is the junior maths challenge out of?
5 marks are awarded for each correct answer to questions 1 – 15. 6 marks are awarded for each correct answer to questions 16 – 25. In the Junior Mathematical Challenge you will NOT lose marks for getting questions wrong. Answers left blank will be marked as 0.
